5th Annual Create for a Cause 2012


Can you believe that this will be the 5th year that we've held "Create for a Cause"?  On November 3rd, 2012 Port Hardy Baptist Church and Port McNeill Baptist Church will be co-hosting the "Create for a Cause" fundraiser for the Gazette Hamper Fund. This year we're pleased to announce that "Create for a Cause" will be taking place in Port McNeill!


Where:  Port McNeill Baptist Church (2501 Mine Road)
When:  November 3rd from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Registration Fee:  $7 plus a suggested donation of $15 or non-perishable food or toys
Who:  We have space for 50 adults and 20 youth (ages 10-16)

Registering for this event ensures table space to work on your own paper crafting projects, cards or scrapbooks.  Participants are asked to bring their own paper, adhesives, embellishments and tools.


Included in the cost of the event:

Goodie bags and door prizes!
A variety of challenges with fantastic prizes!
An assortment of paper crafting tools to be used at the event!

As always we are offering a variety of fabulous classes at a reasonable and additional cost.  This year many of our "classes"  will come in the form of a kit that you can pick up when you arrive at the event and work on at your own pace at your own table during the day.  As a special treat for our youth registrants one small "make and take" class is included in the cost of their registration.


Pick up your registration form from the Port Hardy Baptist Church booth at the Fall Fair on September 8th/9th at the Port Hardy Civic Center OR at "For Scrap Sake" in the Thunderbird Mall in Port Hardy OR contact Lauren Martineau at 250-949-8036.

Last Minute Details....

For those of you who have signed up to join us this Saturday, November 3rd for "Create for a Cause" here are a few details you might what to know about.....

1. Food: You are welcome to bring along your own lunch and dinner however for your convenience the ladies at Port McNeill Baptist Church will be offering a “soup and bun” lunch for $5 the proceeds of which will go directly to the Gazette Hamper Fund. For dinner we will be ordering in pizza for $5/person. If you would like to participate in either of those you don’t need to let me know ahead of time, just bring along some moneyJ

 2. Silent Auction: This year we are hosting a silent auction of some beautiful handcrafted items during the day. Lots of great items that would be perfect for Christmas gifts. This silent auction is open to the public so feel free to invite your friends!

 3. Location: Some of you have asked where Port McNeill Baptist Church is located. If you are travelling from Port McNeill take the first left when you come into town (the same intersection as the gas station). The church is located just up the street at 2501 Mine Road.

 4. Classes: if you signed up for any of the kits or Margaret’s class here’s what you’ll need to bring along in addition to your favourite adhesive, paper trimmer and scissors:

 a. 4 Christmas Cards and Portfolio Kit by Danita Schmidt – pop dots
 b. Christmas Ornament and Card Class by Margaret Page @ 1:00 pm – glue pen or glue stick and Margaret is looking for a couple of low heat glue guns to use
 c. Christmas Album Kit by Sandra Dyer – thin Sookwang double sided tape
 d. Wallet Calendar and Bookmark Kit by Michelle Sedola – t.b.a.
 e. 2 Page Year in Review Layout Kit by Lauren Martineau – six 3.75” x 5” pictures and six 3.75” x 3” pictures

 5. Special Challenge: Don’t forget that this year “Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine” is hosting an amazing challenge. If you want to participate remember to bring along some pictures that you want to scrapbook as the winner will receive a challenge prize, a subscription to “Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine” and the opportunity to have their layout published in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

2012 Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine Challenge

We have some great challenges planned again this year but I'm super excited that "Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine" is sponsoring one of our challenges and the prize for creating the winning layout will be a one year subscription to "Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine" AND even cooler...the winning layout will appear in "Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine"!!! The winner for this challenge will NOT be chosen by random draw. We will be voting on our favorite layouts and "Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine" will have the ultimate say:) To participate in this challenge you must register for "Create for a Cause" and create your layout at the event. So come prepared to be inspired and creative. Plan to come for the entire day because your creation must be submitted by 5:00 PM on November 3rd, 2012.
